Getting Frustrated

I have not had a steady weight loss yet. I am going from losing 2 lbs to 5 lbs and have not missed a day of working out. I am getting quite frustrated. I feel tighter and toner, but still feel like I am carrying around a ham around my waist. I am burning 700 calories a day and eating properly and not losing weight. Shouldn't it be melting off of me???

Anyway, I haven't quit and I won't quit. I just hope that my body catches up with me and starts melting some fat away. I am down in the dumps today and wondering what in the world I could be doing wrong.

    Hey, it happens! I have been exercising more and my weight has gone up a few pounds, but I am feeling more tone in places that I have never felt tone. So you should look at the way you are feeling physically. You have more energy and you are feeling tighter and toner! And you aren't giving up! Those are many great reasons to celebrate! Hang in there girl. I am too!!

    Don't give up! One thing I noticed in your shared food/fitness trackers is that you are in no way eating near enough calories per day to sustain the kind of fitness you're doing (assuming you're logging everything you eat). Your weight loss may be stalled because your body is trying to hold on to those calories as much as possible since you're burning TONS and hardly eating anything. Your body needs to know that it will have enough food/energy available to keep going under the rigorous conditions of the exercise you're doing (great job on the Tae Bo!) You should use the Spark nutrition tracker to make sure you're eating enough to support your fitness level that your body doesn't panic and try to hold on to everything it gets just to keep going.

    I made this same mistake at first, working out like crazy and only eating like 800 calories a day and weight loss was -hard-. I finally forced myself to start eating 1200 calories a day and now up to 1300 to 1400 calories a day (exercise around 400 to 500 calories a day) and I lost 3 lbs this week. :) Don't be afraid to eat, it's good for you, really!

    If you haven't already, record your measurements in various places. If you are working out a lot you may be gaining muscle which may be why the scale hasn't moved much. Another thing I started doing was watching my sodium. Even though my calories were good, my sodium was pretty high which caused water retention. Good Luck!

    emoticon Don't let that scale get you down! I know it's frustrating to be doing all the right things and not losing huge amounts of weight, but patience is the key. I'm only losing a pound or two a week, so I know what you're going through. Don't dwell on the numbers. Measure your energy level, see if you actually "feel" better. That will let you know that the weight is coming off.

    The dump is NOT the place for you!
    Examining your habits is a good place to start, but maybe your progression will not be mathematically sensible...and you'll see your progress down the road.
