I have hit the ultimate Plateu!!!!!

Thursday, September 09, 2010

I am so stuck!! I am paying attention to my calories, which are probably closer to 2000 a day, I am getting my exercise and I am not losing any weight!! GRRR

This is the longest plateu I have ever hit, 3 months now!! Come on what do I need to do??? I am not satisfied with my weight, yes I have lost a lot but I am not at a healthy weight yet. I know that this can be done but WTH is going on with me????

Just had to vent. I get exercise every day. I ran 2.5 miles last night, I started weight training again 2 days a week, now what to do?!!??!?! Has anyone been through this that can give me some advice??

Also does anyone have trouble with skin getting in the way? I have a few rolls of skin on my sides and I have started having soreness in my side muscles. Even sore to touch like it is bruised, but it isn't. Could be sore from increase in exercise but I am wondering if it isn't sore from running and the constant jiggle, pull and tug? Any advice for that either?

Maybe it's just something your body needs to do right now. I went from 249lbs to 180lbs in 7months and stayed there for 9MONTHS, that's right 9 months!!! After that I lost another 20 in 3months but I'm sorry to say I gained them back over the last 6months:( So I'm now trying to lose those 20, plus another 20lbs. Sorry, this isn't about me......
Just hang in there, be mindfull and go with the flow, as long as you're not gaining you're doing good!!

I'm not an expert by any means but about 8 years ago when I lost a lot of weight and hit a plateau I was eating about 1800 calories a day and exercising 5 days a week with 3 days of those including weight training.

To jumpstart my weightloss again I added a 6th day of cardio (where I ran instead of my usual biking), upped the weight on my strength training and reduced my calories to about 1500 a day.

I think the two keys for me was changing up the routine and reducing the calorie intake.

Good luck and whatever you do DON'T GIVE UP!! You have come sooo far and you WILL reach your goal. You are an inspiration to SO MANY people because of how much you have accomplished.

I've read that you could adjust your calorie intake (some people cycle calories), increase your workout intensity - kick higher, jump higher, lunge lower...stuff like that! Muscle does burn fat and if you're increasing your muscle mass, maybe your clothes are fitting looser but your weight is the same. (muscle doesn't weigh more than fat {a pound is a pound} but it does take up less space)

Sometimes when I'm on a plateau, I do a Cleanse to jumpstart the loss.

You ran 2.5 miles yesterday! WAHOO! My guess is your body is changing shape even though the scale isn't moving. Try to find an NSV other than the scale. I have a trainer that wants me to do strength training atleast 3 days a week.....maybe add one more to your routine to see if it shakes things up. Otherwise I'd suggest changing your workout routine if you've been doing the same thing for more than 30 days. Change what cardio you do, take a class at a gym that's different.....shake it and keep on movin' -- you're doing great!!! emoticon
