Spending some time with my kiddos!

Thursday, September 02, 2010

School starts up next week so what that means is I am one busy mom!

Last night we went to the open house to meet my kids teachers and drop off the school supplies. I got all my questions answered and I am looking forward to a great year.

And I get to brag a little..... Mom's love to do this!
Both my boys took their MCA tests in the spring and I received the results yesterday. They are both exceeding for math and reading. Jacob's scores were 475 out of 499 for math (state wide average is 457.2) and for reading he got 478 out of 499. (state wide average is 458.5) Andrew's scores were 365 out of 399 for math (state wide average is 359.7) and for reading he is at 399 out of 399 (state wide average is 362.3). WOW.... was all I could say! I am very proud of both of them! And a little background..... my son Andrew was in a reading recovery program in first grade and then just took off with reading. This is a kid that hates to read but gets 399 out of 399 for MCA's and holds an A+ average for reading at school. I am impressed with his scores.

Ok.... bragging session is done!

Since it is the last week of summer.... at least this is the way I look at it. I have been taking off early to spend some time with my kiddos. Yesterday it was coming home and biking for an hour and making a stop at the playground. My daughter went down that hill she had fallen on. (Of course walking her bike down.)

Then after our open house and dinner I played a game of never ending checkers with my oldest son. We eventually just both forfeited the game.... it really was never ending because we both wanted to win. LOL
I also got some baby holding time last night with my neighbors new grandson. He is only 2 weeks old and was so tiny. Almost makes me want to have another one.... NOT! They are precious but 3 is enough for me.

So today I am leaving early again and this time going to the salon with my daughter. She is getting pampered today and getting her hair cut at the salon I go to. She is very excited. She was telling me that maybe they will put some highlights in her hair..... she wants to look like me! Too cute!

And then we will be biking again tonight hopefully to my daughter's soccer game as long as it is not canceled due to bad weather.

Tell your kids that some lady they don't know, thinks they're great. I love to hear about them.

    Congrats on those smartie pants!!

I don't want to wish my kids older since the time certainly flies, but I do look forward to when they are old enough to ride bikes for family fun times. Sounds like you guys have a blast!

Woo hoo! Sign them up for honors courses! That's great that you've got such smart kids. They'll have so many doors opening for them as they get older (assuming they continue to apply themselves!).

Enjoy salon day with your daughter! Sounds like a fun way to spend some time.
