Measuring really DOES make a difference!

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

I am finding this out more and more..... Measuring really DOES make a difference.

So I am on my road to getting off this plateau and decide that I am going to start logging ALL my food. Not just breakfast / lunch / and snacks but my dinner too. And I am also measuring things more accurately too.

Well for breakfast I always have coffee. Just a cup with a little vanilla creamer in it. A little.... HA! I measured it out using a tablespoon and after 2 tablespoons it wasn't where I like it. So I pour 1 more tablespoon... and it STILL wasn't enough. So I try one more.... and yes, it still wasn't enough!

I stopped there and drank the coffee having it not tasting like it normally does. How much of this stuff have I been using!?!?!?!?

So I am back to measuring EVERYTHING because apparently it does make a difference. I thought my sense of measuring was doing pretty good but guess I was wrong.

Back to the basics and hoping to see some movement in the scale!

Measuring and weighing food ROCKS in my world. I am a pitiful judge of portions! Kuddos to all of us who portion!!

Good move! I'm always surprised at how much food I eat when I measure. It's really enough! emoticon

You are so smart for measuring. I need to get back to doing that - you are right - it does make a difference.

Measuring is a great way to really see what is going on.. I started a few weeks back. Keeps me in check. Great post to remind us of WHY we have to do these things.

I weigh things a lot, especially dry rice and pasta. When I get bulk meat, I weigh it into 6 oz. uncooked servings. The problem is a serving is so puny.

I measure and weigh EVERYTHING! I'm such a bad judge at portion size so I have to do this! It's good that you're getting back to the basics. It should help.

Measuring definitely helps put things in perspective, doesn't it. emoticon I've found, though, that once you get used to it and eating more reasonable amounts, you don't really miss it. Plus, I like knowing what I put into my body. Good luck getting that scale down further! emoticon

Yikes! I have done that to myself too often!! You think, oh, that looks like a half-cup, then find out it's a full cup or more. What is wrong with our eyes??

I'm glad you're getting back to basics. You work so hard (saw your workout plan for today - awesome!!), I really want you to see results. Tracking everything should make a huge difference!!

I am not a good judge of portions either. I started measuring too.

I,too am getting into the habit of measuring instead of shoving stuff in my mouth.
I already learned I absolutely have to measure out crackers or sunchips or I will eat the whole package.
