Huffing and puffing away!

Friday, August 20, 2010

So yesterday I decide that I am going to make an attempt to run on Friday. Cause hey, I ran 1/2 mile before my weight lifting and I felt pretty good. My breathing wasn't the best but my body was sure ready to run. So I tell my running group that I am in for the Friday run.

Feeling very excited this morning I made sure I was all ready to run. Had plenty of water, made sure my medicine was taken early enough, etc.... I get to the YMCA and started up the stairs when the breathing hits me. UGH.... Darn it! I forgot to take my inhaler before heading over. Already huffing and puffing going up the steps. Shoot... well I should be ok. We were going for a short 3 mile run. I can make it.

Head outside and the air is thick and sticky. Cooler temps but you could just feel the moisture in the air. But we head out for our 3 mile run. I make it 1 1/2 miles and my breathing is horrible. It felt like I just started running.... almost felt like I was a smoker or something. Not a good run at all.

I made it though the full 3 miles but did have to walk a little.

Just goes to show how important breathing is with your exercising and sports. Like I said, my body was ready and willing to go long distances but my lungs weren't ready yet.

So I am hoping that by next week I should be back up to par and will be able to run more and longer distances.

So happy for the weekend to be here..... I need rest! But I am not sure if I will be getting it. Tomorrow we have sports all morning. My daughter has soccer pictures and a game and then my son has football practice. In the evening we will be getting together with family for a bonfire. Should be a fun day!

Then Sunday we are having a party for my father-in-law at the beach. He is turning the big 60! In between all of this stuff I need to find some time to clean my house and get the laundry done. I also have been starting projects like going through closets, etc.... Such a mess! And for a clean freak like I am, it almost makes me feel stressed out seeing the mess. So hopefully I will find some time this weekend to get everything done. And get some much needed rest so I can run next week!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!!

Wow, you have a busy weekend but sounds like it is filled with fun! I hope your breathing gets better. My allergies went into high gear today - the pollen counts are high so I'm staying inside and sticking to the treadmill.

I'm amazed that you were still able to run at all. I try to incorporate a little jogging when I walk but not much. I'm not really all that ready for it yet. But I will be!

Oh, you better not come visit my house! I've never been a neat freak, and I'm better now than I used to be, but things are still kind of randomly spread throughout my house. Maybe I'll get it clean after I finish school...

Just take it easy and let those lungs heal! You deserve some rest - you work hard and push yourself a lot. Maybe join Becky and I on our weekend crusade for bubble bathing. You could put on a little music, light a candle or two, and just let your cares drift away in the steam. So nice...

Either way, (cleaning or relaxing), have yourself a great weekend!
