Summer Camp (Prayers, Please!)

Sunday, July 25, 2010

I dropped off my daughter (9) at summer camp this afternoon. I won't see her again or hear from her again until Saturday morning! It'll be a long week, and I'd appreciate some prayers... especially tonight and tomorrow.

My daughter only knows 1 other girl at camp, and we only met her in November at mother/daughter camp. And, that girl will be with church friends. So, I'm praying my daughter makes some quick friends and that she fits in quickly! I'm also praying she won't get too homesick. I'm praying she'll learn and grow - both in skills and spiritually. And, I'm praying for her safety! You see, at mother/daughter camp... she fell off the bunk and broke her wrist. Truly, though, tonight I'm praying that she makes friends and feels comfortable and is able to go to sleep. And, that tomorrow she'll love all of her activities and make friends and have fun!

Thanks... I'm really nervous!

I'm sure she is having an absolutely blast!! I was a church camp counselor for several years and one year I had the first year campers...there was definitely some homesickness, and usually actual stomach sickness (first time on their own and all they wanted to eat was junk food and not drink water! LOL), but we had so much fun too! By a couple days in they usually didn't want to leave. :-)

I'll definitely be praying for all of you!

My oldest daughter was a little nervous the first year of camp but has loved the last 3 years of it. She said they keep them so busy that the time goes so fast. I am sure it will be the same for your daughter. emoticon

I will pray for you both. I understand your nervousness. Every once in a while, I get a few pangs of nerves over my 19 and 21 yr old sons! Can you believe it?

But to help lessen your nerves, let remind you that you most likely trust the people running the camp, or you would not have let her go. And more importantly, you have already put her into your FATHER's mighty and loving hands and committed her to Him! So now, try to picture her in His hands and DON'T let yourself take her out of those hand, no matter what!

This kind of visualization really helped me during the worst time in my life! I hope it will help you now.

Now go do something that you have been wanting to do for a long time and haven't had a chance to do. :-)

    For MOM: emoticon emoticon

She will be fine! She is probably not as nervous as you are, but I will say a little prayer.

Awwww i'll send some prayers her way too. I'm sure she's going to do just fine! My parents never let me go to camp...actually i was painfully shy up until college, so i wouldn't have let them take me anyways. Hope your girlie will make some great friends and enjoy her time. Let us know how it went!!!
