Reflections of the Baby Shower

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Looking back on the events of yesterday, I'm very satisfied. I attended my niece's baby shower. There was no apprehension about attending, well, not much anyway. I'm armed with everything I've learned on SparkPeople. There are no forbidden foods. I've exercised for the day and eaten sensibly during the day.

I come from a family of excellent cooks, all overweight because of our craft. I thought I might have a problem with temptation but, that wasn't the case. As a matter of fact, my girls made a few healthy dishes. There were whole wheat pasta dishes, whole wheat sandwiches, reduced fat dressings for the excellent salads. The tastes were magnificent! Of course there was cake, cake with butter cream frosting. I actually had two slices, small but, two of them.

There was no guilt, no apology. SparkPeople has taught me how to eat properly. Nothing is forbidden. Everything in moderation. When I got home, I finished my exercise for the day.

I felt really proud of myself. This is starting to feel like a lifestyle change rather than a diet plan. And that makes all the difference in the world!

Thank you, SparkPeople!
