Two more days down!

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

So although it's only been a few days I'm still going strong and feeling REALLY good about it.

Day 4- ran 4.5m and I FINALLY saw movement on the scale. So that is the positive thing for Sunday. I was so excited you have thought I lost 20lbs and it was only 1.8. Going 11 weeks with all the hard work I've been putting into this and not seeing anything was VERY frustrating. Although I was and still am very motivated it was getting tough. So this gave me that little extra motivation and encouragement that I so desperately needed.

Day 5- eliptical for 30min and got my butt kicked by a trainer at my gym!!!!!!!! So I was doing some ground strength training and a new trainer saw me and decided that I looked like I needed help. Although I felt REALLY awkard at first I took him up on his offer and am glad I did. He showed me how to work my abs HARD!!!! It was crazy. I wasn't quite sure if I was going to make it out of the gym without crawling, haha. But I did and after strength training I did my cardio. So I say- GO ME!!!!! Something positive- I accepted the trainer's help which is something I would NEVER do before. I would have just said nicely "no thank you I'm fine". This experience has shown me just how much I have grown over the past year with my self-esteem and confidence.

The scale is dumb. It doesn't tell you when you are building muscle or holding onto water in preparation for building muscle. Every workout you do is doing you good. Eventually it'll be reflected in the scale.

It sounds like you really got a lot out of the trainer's help and I really understand what a big step that can be. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Good for you! I once had a trainer help me out like that and it is weird at first, but you do learn a lot. Also, you are doing a bunch of exercise. Make sure the calories you are burning are reflected in you're set up (i.e. where you set up the calorie range etc) because the more calories you burn, the more calories you have to eat! This is very important because you're body needs the fuel for the exercise. Oddly, if you don't eat enough for the exercise you are doing, you won't lose weight. Just a thought.

Oh, I super impressed by the running of 4.5 miles! I have tried running and just cannot do it!

To me, any lower number on the scale is good.

Good for you! It can feel weird to be at the gym and be around "fitness" people but you are one of them now! I chat up people at the gym all the time and they all tell me they think it is awesome that I am there and dedicated and they don't care if I am out of shape. I am getting there that is what matters and so are you! Trainers can be great ways to modify an exercise so you don't plateau. Keep up the good work and congrats on the first movement on your scale!
