I need motivation!

Monday, July 05, 2010

Today starts a sort of marathon for me. We leave for a mission trip to Cleveland early on Sunday morning, and I have a lot to get done before then. What I have to prepare for the Vacation Bible School (and afternoon craft time) we will be doing there is enough work, but on top of that, we have to clean out one of the most used rooms in our house for new flooring to be installed while we're out of town.

It feels like an overwhelming task for me. I know I'm not in it alone, but I ask for your prayers and your guidance. I'm not by nature a disciplined person, so this is a big stretch for me. But I know that the only way anything ever gets done is to just do it, so that's what I have to do!

You will do just fine. I'll be praying for you, and praying that your Missions trip will be one full of the promise of God. Praying that there will be many decisions made for Christ during the VBS.

hahah.. you sound like me. I'm sitting here checking on spark people at 11:45 when I have a homework paper due tomorrow for an 8:00 am class. I'm just as bad. Guess we better both get to work! :)

You're definitely not in it alone! Here's what I personally need to do: Buy a box of Hefty black plastic trash bags, pull up a chair, and start filling those bags. Except for furniture and some papers (which need to be either shredded or filed), chances are it is safe to discard the things that have sat around long enough to become a mess.

If these things were truly important, I'd have taken better care of them. Besides, after catching an episode of 'Hoarders' here and there on television, I shudder to think of starring in one of their episodes! ;o)

From my experience, telling myself I can use it, donate it, or sell it just ends up stalling and relocating the disorganization to another spot, spreading the stress.

The Lord will give your strength and just think of all the calories you'll burn and the resistance training time you can count!

Hang in there! Just take it one task at a time. I am a big fan of to-do lists that break it down step by step, so it doesn't feel as overwhelming. I believe in you!
