Me vs. Track

Water-check, Feetures socks-check, Saucony shoes-check, iPod-check, sunglasses-check, head band-check, chewing gum-check!!! I creep up to the school wondering how it will turn out; will it defeat me or will I defeat it. What could it possibly have on me....Nothing. What could I possibly have on it....Everything. I know the turns, I know the distance, I know the pavement, I know where that dip is to avoid. I know everything about this track, how could it possibly defeat me?
The bell rings and off I go for my brisk 5 minute warm-up, the sun is shing and the wind is ever so faint...Oh it feels so refreshing. Then before I know it it's time to run...Oh no here we go; will I fail or will I conquer this? Phew the first one went really good, I am feeling like a Rockstar--a Major Rockstar!!! Second one begins and again I tore up the track, I owned it and still feeling like a Rockstar, just not a major one!! Third one begins, I have my head held high, and then OH NO there is a cute guy across the street...will he be a distraction and mess up my focus, I mean c'mon this is my best day yet!! Nope, I am good still going full force and feeling not so Rockstarish anymore but still running and staying focused. I was more than happy to walk after this one, I really needed to walk off the soreness this time. The rest of the runs did not go quite as well as the first three, but they went!
My fierce, full force, I am a maniac, maniac crazy girl run only lasted three glorious laps, but they were the best three laps EVAHHHH!!! I ran every interval once again and felt like I owned that track, I owned the gravel beneath my feet, I owned the wind blowing in my hair and cooling the sweat that was dripping down my back, I owned every part of that work-out. I won, I beat that stupid track and plan to continue to beat it 3 days a week from here on out!!! Bring it on Track.
