Yesterday was my birthday and I had a truly great day.
First off, I went and finished my first 30-minute run. I had planned it so that I would reach this particular session of the c25k program on my birthday - and I did!
I got new running shoes a while back and I rewarded myself by throwing out the old ones and taking the new, shiny ones onto the trail.
I had been cooking for two days, resulting in a great buffet (if I may say so myself, but also quoting my guests). Here is a picture of the result:
Not pictured is a hazelnut semifreddo that I made for dessert that turned out super yummy. I had hardly made any of the dishes before so it was a bit of hit or miss, but I can honestly say that there was really only one major "miss" on the table.
I had bought plenty of wine for everyone and almost everyone who came brought a bottle, so I think I have more wine in my house now than before the party started... (I'm feeling another get-together coming on...)
Someone brought a box of Anthon Berg chocolates that we sampled as well.
With great company, tasty wine, delicious food and scrumptious dessert, I am sure you all will appreciate what I consider my greatest success of the day:
Enjoying everything fully - the food, the wine, the chocolate - without an ounce of worry, guilt or any lurking compulsion to overeat. At the end of it all, I had tasted and enjoyed everything, including seconds. I was full, but never stuffed or uncomfortable.
I went to bed, a very satisfied, 39-year-old woman!
