Grab June by the Horns!

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

Okay, so I've leveled out with my weight loss. BUT I KNOW WHY! Apparently, walking tons doesn't help you loose weight if you eat like a horse. Who knew? But anyway, I thought I'd share something about myself that lots of people find strange. I ADORE MONDAYS!!! I'm also thrilled to start a new month! And guess what? Today is JUNE 1ST!!! It's a fresh start! A clean sheet of paper! Isn't that cool? I'm going to take advantage of June! I'm going to challenge myself to continue walking 10,000 steps daily during week 1 and increase my steps by 1,000 each following week. I haven't been drinking my water so I'm going to start. Hopefully, all that water and activity will curb my
"oh - my - goodness - I've - never - seen - a - woman - eat - like - that" appetite. You'd think I'd been shoveling gravel all day the way I can scarf down a steak! You see, I'm from a family of good southern cooks where dinner isn't just a meal...it's an event! Needless to say, we've got some lifestyle changes to make:-) So here I go...off to make the most of June!! Yippy!!!

Love the upbeat attitude you have! Great way to start a brand new month! Happy June!

Maybe you need to switch it up with your walking. Have you tried like an "interval training" approach? (Alternate 1 minute fast walk/slow job and then 2 minute normal pace). Just a suggestion -- sometimes we just have to look for different ways to do the same task.

Good luck on getting over this hurdle!!

I love your welcome to June! I love your positive attitude in general. I am cheering you on with your goal of 10,000 steps and I can relate to your appetite (part of your zest for life isn't it!)cause I can eat any body I ever met under the table when I let go of all restraints. It's frightening what this 5-foot,not quite 2-inch woman can put away. But I'm sure I can make my goal weight again. I did it once before. You can do it too. As Scarlett would say, "Tomorrow is another day." It's a new month. Every Monday presents a new week of choices. (yeah, and after last week I was very happy to start over; what a disaster!) Every day is a chance to get it right again. Let's do it!

I like your way of thinking! I say, "Just do it" kind of attitude works for me when it comes to achieving weight loss goals! You are definately off to a good start! I would make one suggestion, if you have other exercise you can incorporate into your walking, that might not be a bad idea. Your body gets used to one type of exercise and you will hit a plateau and your metabolism could slow down. So maybe try getting some circuit training in there where your actually mixing cardio and strength together and you will burn more calories, thus helping you to loose weight! Good luck and stay motivated! emoticon
