Reality Bites

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I can't necessarily feel that my body has lost weight in and of itself, but in relation to certain pieces of clothing, I can. This week, I wore two pair of pants to work that I have not worn all winter because they've been two tight. But now they fit again!

And I feel kind of "normal".

Until I see my picture.

People from the training I went to a couple of weeks ago have been sharing their photos this week and every single one where the lens has registered my being, is a sobering reality check (the new profile picture I uploaded is an example - not the least flattering one, but still a no-hiding picture).

I'm still a long way from home...

I guess, when you're carrying around a lot of weight, 20 lbs hardly makes a dent.

I have felt that way and often. Now I feel that way sometimes, and then other times I have trouble identifying with the body I am in now because it's still not my "normal" body from before the medical issues and weight gain but yet it's still not my ultra "fat" body from the extreme. I wrote a poem about it in Spanish, but I am still debating whether to post it since I'm not sure whether or not anybody could actually relate to it or if it is just me who feels that way.

    Hej!
Jag tycker det sysn stor skillnad på korten. Även om inte kilona till synes ha rasat så är hållningen en annan - så du ser mycket smalare ut!

20 lbs makes a bigger dent than we realize I believe!! You've been doing a fantastic job and as you keep going you will see more and more progress, it's hard to see ourselves anything but what we have always seen...does that make sense? Even after losing 50 I still struggle to see the "new" me in the mirror but my minds eye see what was there before. Congrats on your pants fitting better, before you know it they will be falling off! Keep on going! emoticon

Be proud that the clothes are loose! I would be very happy with that.

You just keep on doing what you are doing and emoticon

The scale will lie to you. Clothing never does. Your pants will be falling off soon, I'm sure.

The part that bites is having to buy a whole new wardrobe.

    Keep going!!!!

Congrats on your 20lb weight loss! And it does make a difference no matter your size. Keep it up and those pants will be real lose and you'll be down a size.
