My Success with 10,000 steps a day

Oh My Goodness! I feel like a new person! I bought a $5 pedometer and it's completely changed the way I look at exercise. I've only been using it for 2 days and I've already broken through my plateau. So here's the deal. I challenged myself to walk 10,000 steps everyday this week. On day 1, I was so excited with my new gadget (plus it was shopping day AND I had to chase down the neighbor's horse) that I logged in 15,027 steps! I hit the bed that night like a ton of bricks. The next morning I was determined to get my 10,000 steps in. Well I did! And This morning (Day 3) I'm down a pound! I couldn't believe it. I've thought about why this seems to be so effective (aside from the obvious physical output) and this is what I've come up with...
- When I'm focusing on my steps, I'm NOT obsessing about what I'm going to eat.
- It makes me "feel" like an active person and that boosts my morale.
- Since every step counts, housework doesn't seem so mundane.
- I've found a benefit of being 4'11". I have to take 3 steps for every average persons 2! (LOL)
So how about it? Do any of you want to join me on my 10,000 steps a day challenge? I'm walking my way to Slenderville. Want to come?
