I've decided that this computer is soon history. I am having so many problems with it in trying to post.
I appreciate all the feedback I have been given to yesterday's post. It made my decision easier. Thank-you. When I have a chance next week, it will be a trip to the computer store. Does anyone have any ideas of a quality brand for under $1000?

I'll second the Toshiba! Their quality is superior to most. :) You can get it as basic, or as elaborate as you need. :) I have a friend who bought a dell, and she's had NOTHING but problems. :(

I recently had to bite the bullet as well-bought this laptop at walmart on sell-it is an
emachine, windows 7,with all the feature and I paid around $300. Whatever you decide-
good luck-I know how frustrating & intimidating it can be!-Linda

Our computer died last month and it was a horrible month - living without it! Dh checked around even on-line stores etc. FInally, we bought at Walmart, a pkg deal for less than $600, but I think we then had to buy a modem... It's so much smaller than our box and takes up a lot less room, but the keyboard was different and we ended up using our old keyboard cuz we're so used to it, but I'm a typist and I don't like keyboards on laptops either, so maybe you would be happy with it, if not, just keep your old keyboard... good luck.

I went to Best Buy and bought a Toshiba Lap Top. My son has the HP. I was skeptical on buying the Toshiba because I thought HP would naturally be better, but to my surprise the Toshiba kicks the HP's but. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they are dumb. It's your purchase so bug the sales guy with all your questions before you buy!

Dell is still the best. I've had two (desk and notebook) and they never fail me.
