Time to Get Serious Again!

Friday, April 30, 2010

These last couple of months have been very stressful. I have been very tired all the time. I have been to my dad's every weekend cleaning out his house. He decided to get married and emotionally my sisters and I aren't there yet. Plus, I've had to deal with a couple of legal issues -- one with the cabin and one with someone owing me quite a bit of money. Then, I have had to finish up homeschooling my youngest daughter who will graduate in two weeks. And finally I found out I had a torn meniscus. I have been logging in all my food and exercising (though not as regularly as I wanted). I have only lost 4.5 lbs since February 23 when everything went haywire. At least I didn't gain. But, when I sat down and evaluated things today - I got angry and frustrated with myself. I should have been farther along with my weight loss. Really I have only been in maintenance mode.

I am making a new commitment. I want to lose 5 lbs a month. I am going to get back into a regular daily exercise routine. I am part of a couple of summer challenges. I AM GOING TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT!!!

You can do it, Carrie! If you can handle the stress of the past few months, and still lose 4 1/2 pounds, imagine how far you'll go without all the additional stress. You should really be patting yourself on the back for doing all you have done these past few weeks.

Hey, Carrie -- in the past those circumstances would have had me gaining 10 lbs. You may not have been 100%, but you didn't quit. And you're ramping it up now. I think you're gonna see some big strides in the right direction before long. Are you almost finished at your father's house? what's the target date for that? You have accomplished a LOT in these winter months, and should celebrate those things. Looking forward to seeing lots of fitness minutes from you this month, and hope you will be trying some healthy recipes, too! Happy May Day!!

Stress can really do a number on you, but I think you are being too hard on yourself. You have lost weight, even though you have gone through this rough patch. That is not maintenance, it is trending downward! I am with you on getting into a better place mentally and physically in pursuit of my goals. Let's do this!

Sounds like good goals, we are here to cheer you on. I'm sorry the past couple of months have had extra challenges and considering I would say you've done a great job, in the past you probably would have gained weight, right? So celebrate the victory and learn to move forward to a healthier future. Let me know if I can help you in any way, I don't have it all figured out but a fellow sojourner.

Don't be too hard on yourself... sounds like you've had a lot going on. As you said, at least you didn't gain, which is progress in itself. Keep on working at it, you can do it!

Are you going to have surgery for the torn meniscus?

It is difficult to lose weight when you are under stress.

You are NOT quitting. That is great!!!
