Ashe consequences

I am not sure if it´s the same in english but "sociala medier" is translated "social media"

...and it is SO interesting to se how internet +problems +creativity = new solutions. From my e-mailcommunitys I learn that people are stuck in London, Krakow, Copenhagen and Madrid... and cooperation is growing everywhere. Facebook has a group:

..where you can seek or offer transportation - there are more in swedish and I guess every country in Europe has something similar going on.

This is a change that won´t disappear with the ashclouds - people will have learned to look for more flexible solutions when they travel. That is an interesting thought!

    That is so true.

A friend of mine was stuck in Dublin and the ferry from there back to the UK doesn't take foot passengers. She had access to television, but not easily to the internet. I researched how she could get home and texted her the details. The plan went like clockwork. I picked her and her husband up from the local train station this afternoon. They had spent nearly two days travelling for what would have been a 40 minute plane journey.

Many were doing the same. Although difficult, they were quite heartened by the comeraderie of the experience, shared by so many others and who were determined to keep each others spirits up.

Others are sitting it out (no doubt still) - but there is no knowing when their wait will end.

Take nothing in life for granted. Be flexible and think out of the box. It seems like a good life motto to me.

Thanks for sharing. Technology can separate us, or bring us together. Isn't that remarkable?? -Marsha

Hopefully the sharing and helping will become a habit with more people because of this. A great opportunity to realize that you are dealing with something you have no control over. It makes the Mt. ST. Helens eruption look like small time!

I live in Denmark, yes they are stuck and can be for quite some time as volcanoes decide themself when they want to stop making ash- People won't be able to use planes until the ashes clears-the ash gets in the motors makes a total engine stop.. My son is off to england next week they are using train and ferry to travel..

I met a woman here in George, South Africa who needs to go back to Germany, but can't get a flight. She is hoping to find something to Dubai and try to reroute from there, but so far no go. She comes to South Africa every 6 months for our sunny season but its basically over now and she can't get home. Shame.

I hadn't thought about that but if folks can work together on this, they might could work together on other problems too.
