It was the eggs or my dryer

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

About a month ago I cleaned out my dryer lint hose. Like every year, there was a nest with three eggs in it. We complained to management (we live in condos, second story) but they claim they took care of the problem. Well, dh couldn't get a load of laundry to dry today so again I climbed back behind the dryer. (Does that count as strength training?) And, you guessed it, another nest with another three eggs.

I'm really frustrated with management. We own our condo, but they are responsible for the outside walls. We have a lot of older people who live in this complex who probably can't climb behind their dryer as easily as I did (and it was NOT easy). We also have several mentally challenged neighbors who probably don't even know they are supposed to check their dryer hoses periodically.

So, management is getting a call from dh first thing in the morning. And then from me in the afternoon. And, if they don't take care of the problem, I guess I'll call that lady on channel 13.

If I put up a notice at the mailboxes offering to climb behind everyone's dryer to clean out their dryer hoses, can I count it in my fitness minutes?

for taking a stand with the management - and also for your concern for and consideration of those around you who are less fortunate in circumstances! (Yet another reason I'm grateful I don't live in condo-style housing!)

I enjoy animals as much as the next person, but sometimes there comes a point where human needs must come first.....here is where I have a real beef with overly-zealous animal activist groups whose actions tend to put people last.....

I hope your management steps up for the good of all!

And, yea - not only would that count as a fitness activity in my book, but potentially a money-maker - perhaps you could even make a few extra bucks in the process if you're so inclined to consider that!

we have birds make nest every year on top of the outside lights and above the garage. the baby birds are so cute but they get really loud sometimes.
you can use the fitness tracker... it has heavy lifting and heavy cleaning that you can count it under. emoticon

You go, Girl! I think you could get credit for several things here: 1) Community service, 2) Wildlife control, and 3) Strength training IF you are picking up the dryer to move it away from the wall and doing a one-armed plank while you are cleaning out the hose.

    Good luck!

Hmmm ... fitness minutes? Well, I think you could count that! LOL Poor little birdies! They worked so hard only to be evicted! LOL We used to have them push down the vent covers on our attic. Last year DH REALLY fixed the vents so the birds couldn't get in. For the past 2 weeks I have heard a pecking ... no a pounding on the house by the Nuthatches trying to get into the vent. Poor things... they had to find another location this year.

Most definitely count it, as long as you actually do it!

What are you doing with the eggs? One year, we discovered a nest with eggs, and we watched the mother bird sit oin the eggs and hatch them, and then watched both parents feed the babies, then teach them to fly! It was so funny, watching the small mommy flapping her wing at the big baby, bigger than she, trying to get him to launch off the ground!
