It's a wonderful life

Sunday, April 04, 2010

I haven't been on as much as I should be and am going to try and correct that. In November after returning from a trip to Michigan I fell at the hospital while for my husband to have surgery. I injured my knee and couldn't work out at the gym or barely walk. In December I injured the bottom of my foot on an un level walk and tore deep tissue in my foot. Also in December my shoulder started hurting and went to the Orthopedic doc and found I had torn my rota tore cuff. Had surgery in January to repair cuff, cleaned out all the arthritis, and removed four bone spurs. I have been in (PT) Physical therapy for a couple months now and have finally been given the green light to return to the gym. Of course I am still limited as to what I can do. I am doing an hour of water aerobics three times a week, along with the treadmill, stair master, and some weight training machines that don't deal with the upper extremities. I feel so much better already. I am working a lot in the flower and vegetable garden too. I miss the yoga and other classes like like.
I look forward to working out at least three times a week from here on. I have gained five lbs and lost most of that this week already.

After having gastric bypass done a year and a half ago I weighed about 185. I should have lost more than that. I gained five lbs. from November to now. I have lost 3.5 lbs. this week. I will now play catch up so that I will have the body I want and the the health I need.

I understand what all of the surgeries and injuries can do to a person trying to stay fit. I have been through many issues of my own, and I continue to battle a few of those injuries. Keep your head up! You are doing awesome, and I know you will find success if you keep looking forward!

Good for you not letting things (like food) get out of control while things, like your health, were out of control. That is alot to have gone through for one person. Congrats on the sticking with it! emoticon

Wow Sandy, that was a lot of stuff!!! Yikes. If we can ever give you a hand, let us know. You're doing so great to get the gardening in even with all that going on. We're proud of you. And look forward to hearing more as the days go by.

Sorry to read about the troubles and additional surgeries. Glad you are on the mend now and can get back to the gym. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't go to my classes. Take care and keep in touch! ~Karon emoticon
