I was browsing through articles and SparkPages earlier today and came across BEMORESTUBBORN's story. What a transformation! Wow, just WOW! I hope healthier habits will take a few years off, in addition to weight, for me too!
However, what really struck me was how she came to realize that her body was of a different build than what had been projected as a "woman's body" for her when she was young, and how she grew into her athletic build and how running feels good and natural to her.
Even at a healthy weight, I cannot claim athletic build or a runner's leanness. How liberating! I'll never be a runner! I might run on occasion, which I have in the past, but my body is more likely to enjoy other types of movements, like dancing and hiking, which fit both my body and personality.
It's good to be finding one's own way. We're like pathfinders... given the opportunity to explore our new, or true, selves as they emerge from years of self-destructive behavior and pounds of self-protective layers.
