Putting the ME back in my TIME!

I am travelling for business this week... all week. I left my house at 8:00 am yesterday morning and did not get to where I needed to be until 6 in the evening. Once I got there I had to have dinner with the attorney I was working with to discuss our case. By the time I got back to my hotel room it was 9:30 and I was exhausted, I had some work that i needed to do... Clearly working out just did not fit into there plans.

It is so easy to let things take over your life... work, family, friends, personal obligations, the desire to sit down in front of the tv and relax. You may have the best of intentions, but the time just slips by and before you realize it days, weeks, months may go by before you realize that you fell off track. But the bottom line is that we all need to make time for ourselves in our daily routine, regardless of what that time is for.

Last night when I got back into my room I put some music on, changed into some comfy clothes, and took a little me time. I stretched (which felt really good after that long drive), a jogged in place (I was on the 1st floor of the hotel), I did some push-ups, lunges, crunches, planks... a whole workout routine. 30 minutes later, I felt proud of myself for taking a little me time.

Today, after a 5 1/2 hour mediation and a 3 1/2 hour drive to my next location, I took the time to find someplace where I could get a healthy meal rather than going through a drive through. I went for a walk, and I googled and found a location of my gym that I could head to tomorrow. All these things accomplished and I was still able to come back to my hotel room and do 4 hours of work. And I could have skipped doing all of those things and came right to my hotel with a bag of grease and got right to work, but I definitely wouldn't feel as good as I do now.

So the lesson here is that the emails will all be there, as will the paper work, house work, laundry, obligations, appointments... but we all need to take the time in our busy lives to focus on ourselves and put a little ME back in our TIME!
