Spinning class was a KILLER! Man alive. The sad thing is, I dont think ill be back. Its not something I see myself keeping up for a few reasons. One, it hurt my knee to do the bike with any resistance. I pushed myself for the class but its just not something I see being able to do..i really dont want a knee injury. Two, that class is FULL. If you do not get there AT LEAST a half hour early, you wont get in and they all have been going to the class forever so when i walked in (30 minutes early) the only bike they had left was one with the pedal strap broken..which was fine because i wasnt going to strap my foot in but you get the idea. So, I'm glad I went but I dont think ill be back. Its all good, there is another gym 15 minutes away (the one i go to after work) and they have a step class that I may end up doing! I really do want to up my cardio and I think the best way to do that on top of my running schedule is to do the group exercise classes. This week I am going to attempt step, turbo kickboxing, and HOT HULA! (i can only imagine what this class will be). I'm exciting to try these new things!
Last night our family dinner was canceled because we didnt want our 80 yr old grandparents to have to drive in the rain..they live about an hour away and it would be dark AND raining so it ended up just not working out. So i was bored at home which caused me to eat and eat which wasnt good but i didnt do as bad as i would have done in the past AND im definitely not going to beat myself up about it! Instead I got my butt up to class, came home made my deliciously nutritious smoothie and am planning to eat a good healthy lunch! I am feeling SO good and SO motivated..especially in the exercise department. Hopefully I will see a loss in the scale this week I'm ready for it to be moving downward again! Have a fabulous sunday friends! Love you all!!

Spinning is definitely tough...if it's causing pain, you might want to try adjusting your joints/knees to the new form of exercise by trying out the stationary bike for a few days. But Spinning just isn't for everyone (myself included...major knee pain ouch!). It sounds like you have a great gym with some really interesting classes. Keep us posted with how they go!

Def try the step class! I've tried spinning a few times, and its what I enjoy the least. I am hoping for a change in my thinking soon, bc I know there are so many people who swear by it. Group classes are great because you up your game when others are also pushing themselves. GOOD JOB! emoticon

I just read an article that said "you're more likely to stick with a workout plan when you actually enjoy it."

So good for you. You tried it and it wasn't for you. We are all so different and what's right for one may not be right for the other.

Spinning is so intense, in a good way. I'm super jealous about the Hot Hula. I'd love to go to that.

At least you tried. And instead of saying that isn't for me and quitting, you already have a whole list of others in the works. Good for you!

Let us know how those other classes go...esp the hula class, I haven't ever heard of that. Sorry the spin didn't work out, I didn't care for it either.

I agree you have to find an exercise that works for you and won't get you frazzled or hurt. The group glass should be fun!

Well, you gave it a try and didn't work out.... That is okay as there are many other options for cardio. I know what you mean about the knee. My right knee gives me fits when I try to jog while walking so I walk and jog but I doubt I will be able to do any 5ks any time soon. We all know our limitations but it is good to know that we have alternatives!

I hope you can get together with your grandparents soon.
