What I have learned this time around

Saturday, March 06, 2010

as I watch the reality shows Ruby and Carnie Wilson .....I see how they both blame and find excuses as to why they can't stick to there plays or do exercise...both know what to do, they just don't......that seems to frustrate me...I also put Oprah in that category..with all her money, trainers and chef's and she can't keep he weight off... I think then how do I have a chance of loosing and keep it off.....I ponder that thought for a while ... and here is what I came up with.

1. I have Sparkpeople and all there tools, articles and teams.
2. I have stopped making excuses....
3. I'm committed to be healthy...(not skinny but healthy)
4. I learned what works for me ....eating 6-7 small meals a day
5. I learned to believe in myself.
6. I learned to put myself first. (knowing if I'm healthy I can help other even more)
7. I learned to plan my meals and exercise
8. I learned to watch my portions
9. I learned I am not perfect and that's okay
10. I learned to ask for help

I am so proud of myself that I am feeling better and better about keeping this weight off and keeping it off.

I never realized how people seem to make so many excuses for there behaviors. but as I travel along it seems to be everywhere....

I had a lot more to say but darn if company has not stopped by so I have to go.......
oh well have a Healthy Saturday .... and think about what excuses you use to not reach your goals.......

I like #2 the best - stop making excuses. I know there sure are times when I can be "the excuse queen".

    Great list Kitt

Your #9 is, I think, the key to your success. It is what trips people up and lends itself for them to make those excuses - it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to be perfect. And when faced with a diet and the daunting task of losing major weight, many people aim for perfection, fail, and then make excuses. I've been there, done that. Time to move on.

emoticon when did you get so smart?
LOL! you have done some emoticon thinking here.
I so agree with you. All those stars and all their money and
they just don't want to commit, they have to do it, no one can do it for them.

Not one of us are going to lose the weight and keep it off if we don't stop making excuses. Your blog is going in my favourites, I need to remember it and keep it fresh in my mind.
Thank you Kitt, for putting it all into words that hit the heart.

Your item #2 nails it, Kitt! A lot of us know what to do, yet we make excuses for not doing the right thing. It's a big problem in our country right now, and a prime reason so many people are overweight -- no personal accountability, and making excuses. I see it a lot here as well when people are struggling. Heck, I've done it myself! Hopefully I won't make excuses this time around -- I know what I have to do, and I have to do it.

I love your blogs -- you share so much and I'm learning lots from you. Thanks!!!!

You are so right. My excuse was that I had developed bad habits. I guess I felt breaking bad habits was too difficult. But with the things I am learning not only am I breading my bad food habits, I am breaking other bad habits that have nothing to do with food and I am learning new good habits. I also think I was really ready. I want to succeed--not just look better.
