Early Risin'

Last week, I promised myself that I would start waking up earlier. I had been going to bed in the early hours of the morning, and it made each day feel like such a struggle. However, I used those nighttime hours to relax and enjoy life without the hectic pace and interruption of daytime hours. This weekend, I decided to take a break from social networks (other than Spark People), so that I can reclaim my right to privacy and focus on myself. On Sunday, I decided to just relax, with no agenda. I turned a few events down, and just spent the first hours of the day in my pajamas. By the end of the night, I was surprised to see how much I had accomplished that was of personal importance (honestly, just doing laundry and cooking during commercial breaks), while also getting plenty of downtime (catching up on all the TV i wanted). It honestly felt as good as being on vacation :) I was asleep by midnight, and this morning, I woke up early and worked out!

I am using my Nike+ to record workouts.. and its a blessing because it acts like a personal trainer.. I pushed myself harder than I would if I were not recording my workout. I actually ran a bit today (about 90 seconds per interval)!! The biggest difference between my training approach before and after my ankle injury is that now I focus on distance, not just time. So, it doesn't disturb me as much that I'm slower than I was before. I think I just want to see how many miles I can run or walk this year :) That should help keep me motivated!

This feels sooooooo good .....

    I'm envious! I've been getting to bed way too late and it makes getting up really rough. For me I have to keep my pace fairly slow and not try to get ahead of myself or the heel pain I've had in past will sideline me again. I took a break myself this last weekend but it's back to the plan tonight. Is anyone else doing the monthly FlyLady goals? Anyway, I have to get home so I can start my evening workout and stuff.

    You go girl, you can do it! I'm doing the same, focusing on my miles, not time it takes to do them. I have a goal of how many miles I want to do this year, and I'm hoping that when it warms up a bit I will be pushing myself farther than ever because I know that it is those miles that will take this weight off me :) I'm so*HUGS*

    YAY for you...I agree that going to bed (and especially waking up) early are major challenges! Good job on making yourself a priority this weekend and taking the time to relax and enjoy it!
