Last week, I promised myself that I would start waking up earlier. I had been going to bed in the early hours of the morning, and it made each day feel like such a struggle. However, I used those nighttime hours to relax and enjoy life without the hectic pace and interruption of daytime hours. This weekend, I decided to take a break from social networks (other than Spark People), so that I can reclaim my right to privacy and focus on myself. On Sunday, I decided to just relax, with no agenda. I turned a few events down, and just spent the first hours of the day in my pajamas. By the end of the night, I was surprised to see how much I had accomplished that was of personal importance (honestly, just doing laundry and cooking during commercial breaks), while also getting plenty of downtime (catching up on all the TV i wanted). It honestly felt as good as being on vacation :) I was asleep by midnight, and this morning, I woke up early and worked out!
I am using my Nike+ to record workouts.. and its a blessing because it acts like a personal trainer.. I pushed myself harder than I would if I were not recording my workout. I actually ran a bit today (about 90 seconds per interval)!! The biggest difference between my training approach before and after my ankle injury is that now I focus on distance, not just time. So, it doesn't disturb me as much that I'm slower than I was before. I think I just want to see how many miles I can run or walk this year :) That should help keep me motivated!
This feels sooooooo good .....
