(11/90) scary run
Friday, February 19, 2010
so my friend and i went running tonight, and on our normal route we go about 1.5 miles on a main road, go up a block and run back to her house on the back roads... well, i don't think we'll be running the back roads any more. we were almost back to her house, maybe 6 more city blocks to go. we stopped to see this little Yorkie puppy that was wandering around on the streets. jill heard a noise and saw these two big sized guys dressed in black walking toward us. i looked again and there was a third one on the other side of the road. we turned around to run down the ave we just passed, looked again and they had sped up and two were on opposite sides and one was in the middle of the road. they were coming up pretty fast. so we SPRINTED down that road, and by the time we had gotten to the next block one of the guys was in the middle of that road about half way to us. so we zig-zagged a block to lose them. i ended up turning a corner to sharp and ran through a puddle that went to my ankles ( at a brisk 15 degrees... brrr), not to mention it was really hard to run because of all the ice on the roads. who walks like that? it was so shady! if they were friends they would be walking together, and they were big big guys, i had to have ran to get so close to us, because we ran as fast as we could. and who in their right mind walks at 9:30 at night like that? (lol, beside us) well... we made it back safe and sound, but oh buddy! i was tired. that adrenalin really worn me out!! well, the last 1.5 miles is a steady up hill trek.
sooo, that would have to be the fastest 3.5 miles i've ever ran!! lol but oh man, i'm so sore and tired. i'm really feeling it. i was scared though... jill was scared too! she's a natural runner, she's fast and knows a lot about the art of running. she wanted to sprint the rest of the way, but i couldn't keep up.
so i'm going to make some hot chocolate, eff calories tonight! my throat hurts, i need something hot.
today was an alright day though. i got a lot of my "chores" done that i've needed to get done for a while. i still have a list of things...
so with that my good thought of the day: i'm proud of myself for running as hard as i did, for as long as i did. it hurts now, but it's a good hurt!
