Didn't Make It

Sunday, February 07, 2010

I didn't make it to the wedding. This was disappointing. However, I felt it was better to be wise (after 3 setbacks)! I got stuck in a drift in my driveway and shoveled my way out (good cardio). I got stuck again on a side road when I moved over for a car coming the other direction. A neighbor got me out. When I was getting ready to turn from state route 20 unto state route 4, I saw there was a jack-knifed truck on sr4 blocking the lanes. I decided at that point to make a U-turn and come home. After I got home, I found out that Pittsburgh (where I was headed) was virtually closed. The main expressways were closed. Even the mall where my niece was to get her hair done was closed. Some of my relatives were stuck in the traveling nightmare for more than 12 hours. My daughter forwarded me a picture of the wedding.

I'm sorry you missed the wedding, but you made the right decision, and I'm glad you're home safe and sound. I talked to my Mom this morning, and her and my Dad are amazed that the whole mess missed them! They live in Scranton, Pa, not too far from Wilkes Barre. I for one am glad it did. They're not spring chickens anymore (77 and 90 years young), and they've driven in enough snow and ice for one winter! That's the part I hate about living so far away from my folks (1,200 miles).

But you are safe & your daughter would want you that way! Not stuck in a blizzard or worse!
    Good thing you turned around!
    Too bad though.
Have a good week. Stay warm

My sister, cindy, who lives in West Liberty said they are under a Level 3 snow storm warning. Not to leave the place you are in unless emergency. No one should be on the roads. I truly hope things clear up soon.

Sometimes it is not meant to be, but happy you made back home safely.

Sorry ya missed her wedding. Why did they not come and get ya --might have been easier for them to come out to you. At least your alive to tell the story.

sorry you had to miss out but better that you are safe. I was hoping the Pens would get stuck but apparently they made it to town and I have to dig out to drive to a noon game since all public transportation is closed for the weather.
