Sleep in a pile! Sleep in a pile!

When Life gets difficult I turn to self-help books – I am addicted… but there are no books for people that feel like me right now, They are all into positive thinking and love yourself despite all your flaws and..yadayada. I find them to shallow for my present position.

On a recommendation from a friend I went to the movies – ”Where the wild things are”. It healed me. It made me happy. And it was a fascinating view from the world of a child.

I can´t say why, but I am still very happy for it!

hm I have not heard of this movie. sounds delightful, I am always thrilled to watch children's movies. THese days, I find most of them more entertaining than adult movies which seem to be mostly filled with violence and sex.. there is so much more to life......

Some of my favorite healing times are being a child again. skipping, hula hoops, running down a field, riding a bike...

Hi MeddyPenny. Oh, I'm dying to see that movie! Just saw Avatar last week, which totally blew me away.

I know what you mean about positive thoughts. Sometimes I find actualy indulging the awful feelings is the best therapy. Like I watch a violent action movie if feeling angry, or watch a sad movie if feeling sad. I call it movie therapy. Or you can do the same with music, even in conversations with people. Sometimes walking through a feeling is the most direct route out of it.

    P.S. I am a movieholic.

It is amazing how a child's view can bring peace. With peace comes a sense of well being, and it turns positive whether you want it to or not.

I' glad you saw the movie..

I have to, have to, have to get around to watching this movie! Wanna, wanna, wanna! :)

Self-help books? Fun, addictive, and occasionally they DO feel like empty platitudes! My current favourite is "The Joy Diet" by Martha Beck. Not a diet, it's all about bringing joy into your life on a daily basis. I'm loving the advice there.

Glad to hear the movie got you back to feeling good!

    Cheers,
    Maya

Know what you mean - I can't say why either but The Wild Things certainly brightened my life a bit. I used to love reading the book too - to my children - and now to my grandchild. Glad you found something (however temporary) to help you through what is plainly and understandably a very bad time. emoticon
