Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

I got my new heart rate monitor watch a couple of weeks ago. Tried to figure it out then, got a little frustrated and put it aside and forgot about it believe it or not. Well, today I got it out sat down and actually understood what to do.

I wore it while doing my Oxycise and it was fun to see how much calories I used. So for 18 min of exercise of active zone (50%-60%), it was 112 calories. I know not much, but every bit helps and I know the Oxycise is burning up fat.

My watch is a Sportline Duo 1025 women's. I like the fact that I can wear it with or without a strap and if the battery dies I can just take it to a jewelry repair shop to have it replaced instead of sending it like Polar watches requires.

I'm excited to use it while I do my exercise DVD's now! Time to burn those calories!!!

Have heard about these but never really looked into them. Thanks for the heads up about the batteries.

I've got one in a drawer somewhere. My dh got it for me 7 years ago when I had my heart attack and I wore it faithfully for a year until I felt sure I had my pulse rate under control. The battery on mine could be changed at a watch shop also.

    Have fun with the watch.

I think 112 calories for just 18 min. is not bad at all actually! It's certainly a good start.

What kind did you get exactly? I bought one of the Mio ones on Amazon for $35 instead of $99 and it doesn't require a chest strap at all. I should get it within a few days. I sure hope I can easily change the battery on it, I didn't know the Polar one you had to send in (they sell that one at my gym). Personally, I can't wait to see how many calories I burn when I do strenght training cuz I really have no clue!

    Keep up the good work!
