Progress update

January 26th -- down 5.4 pounds and 3 inches since Bootcamp start 01-04-10. I am weighing myself every Friday and measuring 2 times a month. Next measure day is this Friday.

I am so proud of myself for NOT losing steam or my motivation. Seeing the pounds and inches come off is a GREAT motivator! I know it is not going to come off by summer but I want to be well on my way to my goal of losing 100 pounds in a year. I have to lose more than 5 pounds a month tho or I am not going to make it! LOL.

I have been doing a mix of FitTv workouts and mostly Walk Away The Pounds! It's been too cold here to do any type of exercise outside. We went to Target over the weekend and I was able to find the resistance bands that Leslie uses in her workouts. LET me tell you something .... adding those bands really steps up the intensity of the workouts! I was using hand weights when they used the bands because I didn't have any. But last night was the first time I had used the bands and boy did I break out in a sweat!!

I know I am going to have to step up the amount of time I am exercising but I didn't want to overdue it and burn myself out ... which has happened in the past. Too much too soon and I won't keep up with it.

I can't wait until the weather breaks and I can't get my bike out and do some serious peddling! Jules bought me a wire basket that has a liner in it .... I have plans to put Derby in it. We shall see. Not sure if she will stay in it or not but we are going to try it. My sister suggested the pull behind cart .... that is a bit extreme. LOL. People are going to laugh enough as it is with a Big Momma and a Shih Tzu riding a bike together. Never fear ... there will be pictures!

Hope this finds all of you doing well and staying motivated!!

Congrats on the pounds lost! You are rockin your way to 100 gone in a year. Yay, you!!

I also love the WATP dvds. I think this time around I will not do the same workout two days in a row, though. I have Leslie's dvd that has 4 miles. (It's on of many in my collection.) A 15-minute mile, 12-minute mile, 10-minute mile, and a 15-minute mile with the stretchy bands. Then there are 5 minutes of yoga stretches. Sunday I did a Spark Video. Monday, the full WATP dvd. Tuesday, miles 1 and 2. And today, miles 1, 2, and 4. I am hoping this method will stave off any plateaus - which is usually my most major point of frustration.

I love the thought of you taking Derby with you on your rides. What a great idea! It's always good to take a friend along for the ride. Anxiously awaiting those pictures! haha

I can't wait to see the pics! Sounds fun!
Congrats on your progress!!! I need to get back to measuring too, as a means of tracking my progress! I wish I had accurate baseline measurements from when I was at my highest weight... but I think I was too much in denial to measure (or weight) myself much back then!

    Keep it up!(or down?)

LOL! I thought I was the only one who called herself Big Momma. Acutally, I have a big cape - my name is Fat Girl! Well, soon it won't be!

You are doing sooooo freakin awesome! I see you have a strategy, too - keeping up your motivation and not losing steam! Those are big steps!

Seriously, 100 pounds seems daunting - but if you stick to this, it will certainly happen girl! I am so excited for you! Just think of the clothes shopping....and finally....sexy undies purchased in the normal size! Woohoo! Now, there's something to get Jules..er..."motivated"! No, Derby - close your eyes! LOL!

Congratulations on the pounds and inches you have lose. You definitely have a plan in place to continue down this path. I love my firm band too. It adds something different to a workout. Keep up the great work.

Great job on your progress so far! I love the Walk Away the Pounds videos, too. I am using these twice a week in between my "jogs" with a group at work (we work out in a conference room during lunch!).

Have fun working out with Derby. Aren't Shih Tzus great companions?? I LOVE mine.

    You're on fire, Nic!
If you keep up this momentum I'm absolutely sure you'll manage to wave goodbye to those 100lbs. Keep up the good work.

Wow! What a way to start the year!

Keep focusing on those NSV's! (non-scale victories) And what you need to do for this month and the next. You know some months you'll lose 3 pounds, others 6, but any day you do /something/ to get you towards awesome health is going to get you anywhere you want to go.

As for the exercise time, I'm _all_ for short and sweet m'self... even 50# heavier, I'd rather do a slightly higher intensity workout in the same timeframe, than lower intensity for longer... it's also good to alternate those types of workouts to minimize burnout and maximize recovery.

Keep on keepin' on! You're a ROCKSTAR!

Isn't Leslie Sansone just great?! I too have the 3-mile DVD with the resistance bands, and they really do up the intensity. But I also like her 2-mile Walk Strong DVD that uses hand weights. I'm so grateful for her workouts -- if I had to always go outside or (gag) to a gym, I'd NEVER work out! emoticon

I can't wait to get back on my bike either! I bike 5 miles one way to work when it's not snowy or below, say, 35 here in Chicago. I thought I was gonna become a winter rider this season. Ummmm...maybe next year! emoticon

But just so you know, I used to think everyone was looking at me while riding and thinking, "How can she be so fat if she rides that bike?" But other cyclists have assured me this is nonsense -- neither they nor others notice at all. emoticon

But I'd LOVE to see you taking Derby along for the ride! If I thought my Chihuahua would stand for it, I'd totally strap him into a basket too!

Anyway, keep up the awesome work! emoticon

LOL I think you're doing GREAT! And I don't want you to feel let down if one month soon you don't lose the whole 5 lbs you need because you'll have accomplished so much, I know it! So keep your head up, keep smiling and keep feeling good because when my friends feel good about themselves and everything they're doing for themselves, it makes me happy! :)
