Scale Back Alabama

Monday, January 25, 2010

Today is the day that I will weigh in for the Scale Back Alabama challenge with my team. It is a statewide incentive to get people to commit to exercise and weight loss. I did this last year and it was really the 'kick-off" to my healthy lifestyle and I am proud to say, I have mantained that focus for the year. I said this was a marathon and not a sprint--I have sprinted many times before with no success. I initially also had a small support group with some friends that we were accountable to each other with what we ate and what exercise we were doing. However, as time went on, they fell by the wayside. I knew I needed ongoing support and was so grateful that someone suggested SparkPeople to me! I really enjoy having a place to come to with so much support and wonderful tools to utilize. I haven't figured out yet how to make it all work but that's ok too! The team challenge is designed for 4 person teams to lose 1 lb a week for 10 weeks--if all the members of your team accomplish that goal, your team gets put in for a drawing. Last year I lost 5 lbs in the 10 weeks and would actually be pleased if I did that again this year. One of my team members has joined SparkPeople too! If anyone lives in Alabama, come join the challenge.

That sounds like a cool thing for a state to do. Good for you for doing it. Good luck!
