The Weigh In...

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Gah, it's Wednesday...which can only mean two thing; 1-the week is 1/2 way over and 2. I have to weigh in tonight.

The dreaded weigh in. I'm terrified of the scale. It is more than a measure of pounds and ounces...it is a testament of my weakness. Indulged on some sugary sweetness...the scale will tell. Wimped out at the gym...the scale will tell. Even when I feel like I have a seemingly great week, the scale scoffs at me. It laughs and taunts and whispers....my, my, my did you enjoy that extra latte?

I've been told not to pay attention to the scale, that measurements are what counts. That is absolute phooey. When you have 30 lbs to loose, you have 30 lbs! And if I am loosing pounds then I will most certainly also be loosing inches. In my world it's not an either/or.....it's an and/and. I want to see affirmation from the scale and the fit of my clothes!

You did great on the scale last night Trinity. Here is to another great weigh in on Wednesday. DOn't worry, I will be worrying about it for the next 6 days right along side you and will be full of anxiety at 7pm on Wed! But, we will survive. emoticon

I absolutely understand for the longest time I was losing inches but not really pounds. I'm not sure about you but for me it was because I was gaining a lot more muscle which weighs more then fat, but I still wanted to see the needle go down. After a little while though it stopped staying even and the pounds finally started dropping so just hang in there and keep giving it your all.

Scales and I are only casual friends. Today is a good example. I know I've been overdoing it with treats and underdoing it for exercise, but I think I am looking pretty toned and my clothes fit really well. That verdict at the scale? Um, yeah... not good news, but not unexpected.

How you feel is much more important, in my opinion, and how you see yourself (inside and out) is what counts. Don't let the scale push you around!!
