1 week, plus 11 pounds (update)

Friday, December 18, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, I gained 11 pounds in one week. In my last posting, I basically admitted I messed up, and was now back on track.

Of course that was day 1 of being back on track, and I just wanted to give a quick heads up, to say I have managed to keep to it. Last week I lost 2 pounds and I have already lost 2 pounds so far this week.

It is interesting re-losing the weight I gained, celebrating each pound off for a second time is different. Getting back down to 199 will not be as exciting as the first time, but I know it will mean more. I have been humbled by the weight gain and that is postitive.

Today was an exciting day for me. I was named motivator of the day. I am writing at 8:30pm, and so far I have had 58 comments left on page, fantastic words of encouragement, and I am stoked to be honoured, though embarrassed by my very recent slip up.

So will I have another week with another 11 pound gain? I hope not, for sure I don't have the same confidence that I had a month ago. Will I have to measure every thing that goes into my mouth for the rest of my life? Hmmm, this is a journey that I still need to figure out. Whilst I am determined on weight loss, I am good, but in another 20 or 30 pounds time, I will be ready to maintain, and will need to face that challenge.

I'm wondering, are you a dieter or someone working on a healthy lifestyle? emoticon

Gordon - first CONGRATS on your remarkable accomplishment. I landed on your page because I was specifically looking for success stories from someone who had lost 100 pounds as I too need to loose that number, plus a bit more. Great job on your part, don't ever lose sight of the fact that this more than proves you know how to live the lifestyle you want.

I felt I needed to share two thoughts with you.

First - another big CONGRATS on being motivator of the day. You are not only doing a service for yourself but for others like me. But I just want to let you know that at the end of the day WE who take motivation from you also just want you to be successful for you. Once you become a role model, sometimes you lose sight of yourself and YOUR needs. Just keep in mind this is YOUR journey that we are just peeking in on. Don't feel guilty about your slips and don't feel that you are letting anyone down with any slips you make. Your journey is about you. Keep doing what you need to make yourself happy and don't worry about us. We are already quite inspired by you. And believe in you.

Second - Awhile back I lost 70 pounds, finally hit that 199 number and then started a backslide. I know it was all in my head. For some reason the success scared me I think. Anyway when I saw your blog about gaining the 11 back just as you were hitting the 199 mark and how you were going to relish relosing those regained pounds even more the second time I identified with you. I just wanted to tell you that I am here in cyberspace rooting you on. Keep your eye on the goal. YOU are gonna get there.

We all fall but the true grit of a person is shown if they are able to get back up and continue.

It is because you got back up that I find you so inspiring!

Good for you getting right back on the program, a lot of people would continue to wallow in self pity and gain even more. Bravo for staying focused. Sandy

Hey I am on that vacation now and not able to weigh anything and depending on other people for food. Doing my best and hopefully it won't be a gain when I weigh in next week. You are an awesome motivator for me.

Congratulations, again, Gordan! There is not much greater than to be able to motivate people in the right direction. Your photos alone are great motivators, what a change you have made in your life. I pray you continued success in this and all your adventures as you continue to grow in all ways. To God be the glory.
