My trip to the South

Saturday, December 05, 2009

With my new job, I was invited to Charleston, SC...Boy, I don't know how you folks that live in the South do it!!! The facility dining hall was wonderfully stocked with a menu that featured Southern dishes - Chicken Fried Steak w/ Mashed Potatoes, Grits, Biscuits and Gravy; and on the weekends, the local flavors of Fried Grouper, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp stuffed w/Blue Crab Meat, Chilled Blue Crab Dip, PECAN Pie...ugh! I must have put on weight just LOOKING at some of this!!! The trip was for 3 weeks...and now I feel that I set any goals back 6 weeks!!! With the upcoming holidays, this time of year is going to be difficult to re-motivate...especially with driving both to and from work in the dark (thanks to the time changes) making it difficult to want to go back out after dropping off #3 son at home...

Yes Southern cooking can be hard on the healthy living, but you can find ways around it! Portion control is a must!

Welocme back from Charleston! Let's face it you could have been stuck somewhere aweful for three weeks. (Thanks for making me drool with envy)

Try doing some isometrics while you're stuck in the car commuting, even while you're working. Whatever you do don't dwell over it, renew your goals and you will be just fine.
