Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my journey

Monday, November 30, 2009

Well my birthday came and went but the weight was still there. Thanksgiving came and went and although I didn't gain (WooHoo) I didn't lose either. I've been doing fairly well being a vegetarian but I've been overdoing it a bit on the carbs and sweets so tomorrow I'm going to begin a 24 day raw vegan personal challenge.

Trying veganism is something I've been wanting to do for a while but felt ill equipped for. I've once again gone head first into information overload but I do know that I won't be getting rid of any suede shoes or leather jackets! So why am I doing this? First and foremost my health. Secondly I'm dying to get rid of this perpetual brain fog and I'd kill to wake up before my alarm goes off and jump out bed with the energy of a teenager! I don't think this will be a permanent lifestyle change for me but who knows. I don't plan on being too strict on myself but I am making a commitment to give 110% for the next 3 weeks.

I will weigh in tonight and take measurements and pics. Then I will weigh in again on the 8th, 15th and 22nd. I'm sincerely hoping that all you Sparkers out there to hold me accountable and provide me with lots of tough love through this journey but for the first time in more than 10 years I plan to welcome the New Year at least 10 lbs lighter (God willing), healthier and happier.

Wish you success on your month of going raw.

I saw a documentary on a group of diabetics who were able to cleanse their bodies and some get rid of their insulin entirely on a raw food diet.

Can't wait for your end of December update...

Good luck on your challenge. I would like to advise you that if you go to long without eating meat it may be hard to go back (three or four weeks should not make that big of a difference.) you will drop that weight in no time on a raw food diet. Again good luck

I wish you great success. My daughter is a vegetarian and I am a flexitarian. I'm sure you have done your research...I just have to make sure we get our protein and iron. That's why I love SP and the nutrition tracker, it shows me the areas I need to boost calcium, protein, etc.

    Have a great spark week!
