I would be willing to bet that what happened at Fort Hood this week was a shock to many people. It certainly wasn't something that I expected. I don't want our country to be involved in any wars, but I don't think it is right to quit until it is finished. I pray for our soldiers and their families daily. They weren't drafted though, they enlisted. When I see Veterans wearing their hats, some of them seemed surprised but I do take a minute to stop and tell them thank-you. If it wasn't for them, who knows what this country would be like. A book I read called, "Jesus Freaks," explains what it is like living in countries without freedom of religion. Before I read the books they wrote, I didn't know it was that bad. There are some things you get the general idea of from books and movies like "The Hiding Place". But without the US Military we might very well not be a country now.
I have been a member of TOPS twice as long as SPARKS but they haven't helped me lose weight as much as SPARKS. The President of our Tops MO #562 is also a member of the American Legion. At the meeting last week she asked us to get out all of the Christmas cards that we have that we had left over from past Christmas's, cards that we were being careful not to send to the wrong people, and bring them to her so she could send them to the soldiers. I asked her if there was something that she needed us to write in them, " American Legion Auxilary". She said we didn't have to write it, but if we wanted to write it for them we could.
If you have cards you would like to donate it would be nice! You could take it to, or mail it to your American Legion Auxillary or just some veterans in a nearby nursing home yourself (If you give them to the nursing homes they will give them to the veterans). I have no doubt but what God will give you stars in your crown if you do. If you think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if you have friends, who are members of the American Legion Auxillary. I knew I would like sending cards to soldiers, so I thought I would let you know about this opportunity. The sooner you can do it the better, but they do have a few weeks to get it finished, so if it takes a little while to find them, go ahead and send them, besides they will do it again next year if they don't get it in time for this Christmas. Thank you and God Bless.
Some people asked for an address to send cards to soldiers to so I found an address it is at
