Couch to 4 miles! Here I come!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in several months. It always makes me feel better when I do, so I am vowing to work harder at blogging my feelings, challenges, goals and setbacks.
Well I started a new program at my Ymca called Couch to 4miles. It is a group of women who are learning to run. We did our first real practice last Saturday and did a 40 minutes stretch of 1 minute run and 1 minute walk. We completed 3.5 miles in 40 minutes and I was amazed and overjoyed at this accomplishment. I am scheduled to meet my coach in the morning at 7:30 and we are going for another run/walk at the greenway.
I have been very commited to exercise and have found I absolutely love Spin classes of which I do an average of 3 a week and Zumba (latin dance) which I do about 2 to 3 times a week. I need to work harder on getting in my strength training. Which I will start working on soon.
I can say this has been a year of challenges for me as I haven't seen a lot on the scale but lots of changes in my body. I am down to wearing my size 14 jeans with no problem now and I have been at onederville for several months and love it.
Started the year at 209 and I am down to 196.. hope to be at 189 before December 31st.
Still struggling with the devastation of my divorce which was final last December.. just wish I could quit thinking of him and wishing we were still together. Guess it takes a while to get over being with someone for almost 20 years.. and I just need to learn patience.
Well thanks for listening to me and I am hoping for a successful holiday season and looking forward to my first race ever... Will be run/walking in a 4 mile competition the weekend of Nov. 21st. I am so excited and pumped. My goal is to do it under 50 minutes. I know that is not a huge accomplishment, but for someone who is just taking up running it will be. lol. I need to be on biggest loser..so I can have someone pushing me to go harder..
