I’ve never seen the movie, but the title fit. Last weeks, unwritten blog was going to be titled 7 Pounds. Aptly named for the 7 pounds I’ve gained since the Spark Convention at the end of September. Last week’s weigh in showed up at 258.8 or 7 pound heavier than the 251.8 I registered on September 25th. I know that I’ve blogged about various reasons for some of this gain, but in the grand scheme does it matter? Usually about this time of year I hit a plateau; just this year it was a bit earlier. I will say that when I stepped on the scale this week it showed 254.6 or a ‘loss’ of 4.2 pounds. All of this while getting NO exercise in for the week again. While not a loss it did feel good to see SOMETHING positive from the scale. The scale doesn’t define my progress, but rather accents it.
Friday night had TAMZ and I out for an evening alone. We were going to see a movie, but before hand I wanted to go to a running store looking at cold weather gear. After talking with a salesperson I grabbed some things to try on. I have to say it’s hard to believe the person in the mirror is my reflection. Not so long ago a 6XL shirts and 64” pants were the staple of my closet. Now I’m looking at XL shirts to go with 42” waist pants. They guy in the mirror LOOKS more like a athlete than a couch potato. He’s leaner, meaner and appears ready to tackle any challenge. I didn’t purchase anything that night because we’re headed to the Outlet Mall this weekend because I don’t have any clothes that really fit. I’ve sold almost everything, but have had to keep some things until the replacements arrive. I’ve always like clothes, but always hated trying things on. Now I can spend all day trying things on and seeing how they look; feel. Top of the priority list is workout clothes. These are what I spend majority of my time in, so why not majority of the budget?
Tonight begins my first spin class. We’ll see how that goes and see if the instructor will put the smack down on me. She’s known to have people quit classes right in the middle, but I’m guessing they don’t have the fortitude that I possess. Don’t let others dictate your dreams; YOU control your destiny.
Spark on my friends!
