Junk food experiment

Monday, October 26, 2009

I had to go out of town for an evening to attend a conference a few hours away, and once I got to my hotel, I decided that I wanted some munchies after my road trip. The only thing that was open at the hotel was a small store.

Even though I saw a few more healthful items, like trail mixes & nuts, for some reason, I just wanted to try out some junk food! Since we rarely buy chips (& then only melba toast & tortilla chips), I went for the really outrageous stuff: spicy Cheetos & a crazy looking candy bar called Wazoo. I don't know what came over me, but that's what I decided to try.

Both were very colorful, sat in my stomach like a rock & I felt terrible, even had trouble sleeping. I can't believe some people actually eat this kind of "food" on a regular basis. No thanks! I'm not making that kind of experiment again!

its interesting how one's body reacts to clearly (in your case) FOREIGN food. I hope you recovered OK from it .

What a great experiment...sometimes trying those 'forbidden' food helps quench the need to have them, for the very reasons you stated. They sit like a lump in your stomach.
And I agree you'll never go there again!
When DH and I travel and we stop for gas, I go into the 'store' for water, and look over the 'junk' food...99% I go out with a pkg. of sugar free gum, rarely a small bag of pretzels or dry roasted nuts.

I know what you mean Sandy, I can't eat stuff like that anymore. Unfortunately I haven't lost my taste for good chocolate, nuts and homemade treats! I've eaten far too many of them this Christmas. Here's to a healthy eating 2010!

I feel like crap whenever I eat crap.
Good thing we don't do it too often!
I don't know how or why people do.
I think my 22 year old special needs daughter has finally learned this for herself.
I'm on vacation and she said she can't wait for me to come home
so she can eat better! emoticon
    Isn't that hysterical?
