Resurfacing After the Floods

Thursday, September 24, 2009

It's been a very long week & I wish I could say that I was able to maintain some sort of controlled eating but I didn't.

I live in Douglasville, GA, one of the hardest hit areas with the North Georgia Floods. I'm very blessed that my house sits on top of a hill & was therefor not affected by the flood waters. I had many friends who were not so lucky.

Although my house was unaffected by the flood waters, I still find myself stranded in Douglasville (surrounding roads were completely flooded out) with no running water & a 7 year old and 3 year old twins! And my 7 year old had the flu and ran fevers every day!

Today is my second back at work now that some of the back roads are no longer flooded. Yesterday was complete chaos trying to catch up on all the work I missed! And today is a bit more towards normal. With that, I have to jump right back into the groove of things with Sparkpeople & my eating. I do not want to let it get away from me!

So I'm starting over today with Chopra's "Eat whenever you're hungry but when you're not hungry, don't eat." I've really struggled with this. I'm suppose to do it for 2 weeks and then move forward with the book/program. So I've set the book down rather than reading ahead. But now it's not fresh in my mind & I'm eating to the tune of stress factors rather than when I'm hungry. So I'm going to go back and re-read what I read and then read ahead if I need too. Whatever works for me, I'm totally satisfied with!

Thank you Angela! I've never seen so much disaster around here before. And all the Disaster Relief trucks. Thank God for those disaster relief trucks. Many families have nothing else. For the rest of us, things are slowly returning to normal although many, many roads are still shut down & making the commute a living nightmare!

I know how it feels to get of track because of stress. I am only 20 years old but I have tons of stress. I work at a bank and go to college and I also clean the bank after I go to class everyday. Which means I don't get home until 8:30 Or 10 everyday because I have night classes some days. So needless to say i get off track sometimes too. You cant let that get you down, I have some family that lives in Atlanta so I know that you are going through a rough time. I hope all is well for you. I have been praying for the people that live in the flooded areas and I will continue. So know that there is always someone on your side trying to help.
