Riding a Bike
Wednesday, September 16, 2009
OK, so I've been riding a stationary bike for quite awhile now. And I've been doing GREAT! So, I think to myself, if I can ride the stationary, why can't I ride a real bike? So I hop on, with my kids on their bikes and off we go. After I first get going, I think, "Yes I CAN do this"! Boy was I wrong! I got down to the other end of my neighborhood, and I had to stop. My legs burned, my butt hurt, and I was out of breath.
So I take a breather and get back on. I go for another 5 minutes or so, and I had to stop again. My legs hurt, my butt hurts and I'm out of breath. My kids (Bless their hearts) kept asking if I was OK, telling me that I can do it, and telling how they are proud of me.
I started crying. I got on again and went a little further. By this time, my legs were like jelly. I could barely stand up. I managed to walk the bike the rest of the way home. My daughter, (who I just took to a dietician today) kept telling me she would walk with me. But I told her to go ride and have fun.
I was so ashamed of myself. I really thought I could do it. But I was so proud of myself, because I kept getting back on that darn thing, and I kept trying until I couldn't try any more. And if it weren't for my precious kids, I would probably still be out there! LOL
If at first you don't succeed, try try again. I will get back on that bike, and I will win!!!!!
