The Ups and Downs Of Type 2

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

I am a newbie to Diabetes so it has been a little difficult to adjust as far as how much to eat instead of how much not to eat. When you don't eat enough carbs your sugar level can drop drastically where you start being hypoglycemia with different symptoms like sweating, shaking fast heartbeat headache, etc. and it feels really, really bad! Then you get those days when you wake up in the morning and your blood sugar is higher than it is suppose to be when you haven't eaten anything yet and then your wondering.....................
.what in the.............? I try not to get too frustrated about it, because stress does not help diabetes at all, it can make it worse. So what is a sista to do?

I go back to the doctor for my 3 month check up in a couple weeks and I can't wait, because something needs to be adjusted with my diabetes medication. I think it needs to be less mg or maybe not twice a day, because I am having some issues controlling the low points.

Personally I wouldn't wait until the next appointment if you're having bad feelings like this. I would keep a record of my food intake, my blood sugars, times I'm having these episodes and take them with you when you see the doctor. Just as the othe rposter said, see a nutritionist to help you. A lot of the hospitals in my area have classes that teach you these things. I hope you're feeling stable really soon.

GIRL TELL THE DR WHAT YOU HAVE SAID HERE. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF NEWBIES WHO ARE JUST DIAGNOSED AND THE DR WILL NOT TAKE TIME OUT WITH THEM TO EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON. OR EVEN HOW TO TAKE CARE OF LOW BLOOD SUGARS. THEY REFER TO BOOKS. OR THE NUTRIONIST. ASK TO BE HOOKED UP WITH THE NUTRIONIST. TELL HER WHAT IS GOING ON ALSO. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK THAT IS WHY THERE ARE GETTING PAID. DO YOU EAT A BED TIME SNACK?? I CAN TELL CERTAIN FOODS WILL RAISE BLOOD SUGARS. FOR ME IT IS BANANAS, WHITE PRODUCTS, BUT I THINK MY SUGARS HAVE IMPROVED WITH METFORMIN. OF COURSE I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT STRIPS FOR A WHILE. SOOOOOO I AM WAITING FOR MY SHIP TO COME IN. WITH DIABETIC IT IS NOT AN EASY RODE. BUT KEEP WITH IT. THINGS WILL STRAIGHTEN OUT WITH TIME. PLEASE TELL ME THE UPS ABOUT DIABETES?? LOL THE ONLY UP IS THAT IT HAS GOTTEN MY BOOTY OFF THE COUCH AND TRY TO EAT BETTER. BEST WISHES ON YOUR CONTINUED JOURNEY.
