This lesson is helpful to me in realizing why I overeat (eat when I'm not physically hungry).
Key thought: No food can satisfy my heart nor fill the emptiness in my soul, only Jesus can.

A- The human heart craves fulness & satisfaction for comfort, pain, lonliness, & boredom, but food doesn't really satisfy.
Eccl 6:7- All man's efforts are for his mouth but his appetite is never satisfied.
food is not designed to satisfy the heart, but to nourish the body.
B-Physical vs soul hunger-how to tell the difference
phy-the stomach growls
soul-we overeat (eat when not phy hungry) because we feel empty. we attempt to nourish the soul by feeding the body. we can't satisfy the heart with food.
so, where can we find fulness, satisfaction for the heart, nourishment for the soul?
Jesus, the bread of life-Jn 6:58
Question1 Right now, reflect on the above statements. Can you identify with this "eating but not being satisfied" feeling? Have you ever thought that you were trying to satisfy your heart with food? Write out your comments here:: yes. Sunday used to be my favorite day of the week. now, we are not as involed in our new church & no longer go on sunday night. i overeat more on Sunday afternoon & evening than any other day of the week. I can sometimes be stuffed from all that snacking, but still think of something else I want to eat, even though Im uncomfortably full.

Question2 What did Jesus say was "real food" and "real drink?": His body and blood

Question3 According to verse 57 above, what is the result of "feeding on" Jesus? Write your answer here:: I will live

Question4 What does Jesus describe Himself as in verse 55?: real food & real drink

Question5 What does Jesus describe Himself as in verse 58?: bread from heaven

Question6 Please write your thoughts on Isaiah 55:2-3-"Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. 3 Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.": Lord, why do I strive for food that will not satisfy like you, the bread of life? When I instead partake of You, my bread of life, my soul will delight in the richest of fare & my soul will live.

Question7 Where are you with Christ ? Are you a Christian? If yes, please tell us about your relationship with Christ. If you are unsure, please read this article Christian? How to Know.: Yes Im a Christian. I know I could never earn salvation, but Jesus died for my sins & when I truly repented of my sins & asked His forgiveness, I was saved by Gods grace.

Question8 What are your thoughts on Psalm 63:5-"My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.": Lord, as your child, my soul should be satisfied. You want to satisfy my soul, so why do I look elsewhere (to food) & why dont I let You satisfy me?

Question9 Finally, is this teaching giving you hope? Can you see how if we get "stuffed full" with Christ we will not need to overeat? What are your thoughts so far?: yes & yes. I do want to draw closer to God & I do know from past experience that His fulness & joy will result in my not seeking food as much.
