Wonderful Weekend June18- June21

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Wow is all I can say in so many ways.
This wow all came about after a wonderful long weekend. Thursday night, my hubby got me tickets to the Lion King and this was the night to see it. I was so excited. We got all dressed since the show was at 8pm, we had a nice light dinner at home. We parked about 3-4 blocks away and had a nice walk, then the theater, we found our seats and they were nice ones could see all around and the whole stage. For about 3 hours we were taken away to another place, the costumes, the actors, the props, music, all of it was so dramatic and bright just took your breathe away. A quick intermission, we got water and wine for him, not snacks although they had roasted nuts and they smelled so good. We scurried back to our seats to not miss a moment. We came home a had a WW dessert that was out treat. And just thought about all we had seen and felt, it was such a great shared experience.
On to Friday, which my hubby took off, we had visitors his step son with his little daughter. Loved spending time with granddaughter, she is a cutie, I took her and off to the store from some food for dinner and snacks. Ok this day was a little harder to deal with calories, we had a big brunch so had to be careful. We both did ok, I stayed within the calories, the high side. Had so much fun at the store and then pool time. It was all good though.
Saturday it was time to get ready to go, we were heading to Rohnert Park to spend the night then Sunday to Sonoma and Nascar. Saturday eating wise was very odd, not really the best nutrition wise. Yet we did a good thing for dinner, we had dinner at IHOP and had their Double BLT, ok honestly thought I had blown it, but we split the fires and a bowl of fruit. Got back to the motel and did the logging, well it was high but not terrible since we had not had lunch. Made the calories ok the day too. Had a nice night with my best man.
Sunday up early and off to the race. Bob, that is hubby had decided to do the tailgate parking and got a small camp stove to make us breakfast. Now this is all new to both of us, I am a real fan but never been to race, so I was all excited to see everything. Bob made a yummy breakfast scrambled eggs, bacon and rolls. We had packed smartly too. Lots of fruit, low cheese sticks, carrots, granola bars(100 cal) and lowfat chips. We also brought lunch meat with light cheese and light bread, so that when we got hungry we could stay away for vendor foods. After a nice breakfast we set out to see the sights. Now this track is in the hills and the parking lot and track are separated by those hills, so time to mountain goat up the paths, and it was a steep incline. We made it though and walked around up and down for a couple hours. Seeing the track and although the smells of food cooking were tempting, we just kept going. Got to see the cars and track and pit, one TV show being broadcast, it was too cool. Bought a Dale JR tee shirt and hat. I was all ready for the race, but first a nice walk back to the car to get our stuff, thankfully a cart came by and gave us a lift to most of the way, those hills are a bit much for us old overweight foggies, lol. Took a break and then back up the hill to get to our seats. Oh and earplugs were a must for me. We only had one no-no some kettle corn. This was the worse day with regard to calories went over about 100. Ok it was not terrible.
The race was so off the wall, I mean action every moment and our seats we had a couple spin outs right in front of us, thankfully nothing really bad. It was a warm day but the breeze blew so not bad. I did get a little sun on my face and arms, but not bad. Bob got sunburn knees.
We had a long drive home only because of the slowness of the traffic for hours.
It was all so wonderful. The last part is that I fully expected to no lose anything this week, but to my surprise I had lost 1.8 lbs. I have for the last 2 months been exercising more, all different kinds and staying with it. All of that helped so much with the walking and climbing we did, I was winded some but not at all what I would have been just a few months ago. Sparks has had a positive effect on my getting down to exercising and keeping it consistent. I have had to push myself but hey that is a good thing and I am feeling great. Ok was tired Monday and glad it was a slow day, but today back to the treadmill and getting back to watching my food better.
So there is my WOW moments. It was a great and treat filled weekend, but the treats were not food related!! Wonderful memories and a great time. emoticon emoticon
