Here's a quick recap of my day today and I made it into a collage.
The 17th of May is Norway's National Day, in honor of our constitution from 1814.
We had a great day today and the weather was glorious, as you can see.
Every year, school kids in Norway parade waving flags and singing - and in Oslo they march past the royal palace to greet the royal family, who has to stand on the balcony for about three hours while the parade passes by. There are lots of bands playing and people dress up in their finest clothes and kids get as much ice cream, hot dogs, soda they can consume.
We spent about four hours in town watching the festivities and retreated to the university garden to relax and chat with friends and colleagues when the noise became overwhelming. When we got home, we had a BBQ on the terrace, basking in the sun.
I'm over my calories today, but I don't mind that - tomorrow the party is over and I know I'll be back on track with my food.
