New Job - to be the Biggest Loser!

Monday, May 04, 2009

Yikes. I didn't think it would take this long to pull out of my slump. It was only a week ago that I was sabotaged at work and as a result got fired. I still can barely talk about it at any length without crying. It was a job I truly loved, as far as jobs go, and I put my all into it. Then to have it ripped away without having done anything wrong? I would have felt better if it had been a layoff.

My new job, for the next four months, is to create my own 'Biggest Loser Ranch' experience. While I may not have the gumption or desire to workout 6-8 hours per day like the actual contestants, I now have the time to do 3-4 hours plus maybe spend a little extra time in the sauna. (that big wooden box I haven't touched in 3 months!) I'm going on a slightly modified version of the eating plan in Michael Thurmond's 6 Week Body Makeover. Due to such an increase in activity, I'm boosting the protein/calories/fat by a bit to compensate. My excuse of not having the time to squeeze in the exercise is over - it's now my first priority. Well, that and maybe to take a shower every day...can't get too slack! LOL At least not with all that exercising! My local gym has lots of interesting classes, including a lot of yoga and pilates classes, which I love. My focus will be those classes, combined with some long stints on my elliptical machine at home.

This should give me a powerful reason to get out of bed every morning. Believe me, there have been a few days of sleeping way in this last week. Turning 30 last year didn't kick me into gear enough, and I'm already just a couple of weeks away from 31. I now have the rare opportunity to take a few months off to work on the weight issue and hopefully conquer it once and for all. I know what to do, and all that I have left is to do it. No more excuses!

Sorry to hear about the job situation...But you seem to be making the best of a bad situation. When one door closes another opens. Continue to take the time to work on you. You'll be that much stronger for it. Heather
