Springtime in Indiana

We had a great trip over the weekend. The weather was perfect. As we drove south from Madison everything got more green until we started to see dogwood and magnolias in bloom. The precautions I had taken kept my allergies in check. I had an extra large bottle of water for the trip and that kept me from getting hungry although I also had some high fiber snacks.
We stopped in Peoria where we had reservations to stay at the Pair A Dice hotel & casino. The slots were distracting enough that I grabbed a yogurt on the way back to our room and was satisfied.
Saturday morning my sister had brought banana bread for breakfast. I had another large water for the car and we drove to Indianapolis for the baby shower. They got so many gifts that it took an experienced packer to load it all in the van. They served lots of healthy snacks in addition to the cake so I had no trouble staying on track. For supper, we ate at Cracker Barrel. They had a section on the menu for "Kids of All Ages" so I could have grilled chicken breast strips and my choice of vegetable. They served a lot of the vegetable with a small amount of very tasty chicken which was all I wanted. The next day we had lunch at IHOP who also had a good selection of healthy choices.
Even so, I was surprised when I got home and found I had lost those two stubborn pounds I had been fighting for the past month. And I was rested, refreshed, and ready to go back again as soon as she has that baby!
I love my husband and my mother, but this trip was "just what the doctor ordered."
