Fibromyalgia flare up

Sunday, April 05, 2009

Mine will flare so that chest wall pain feels like a heart attack. The first time it happened I went to ER. The bone crushing pain was unbelievable. Now when it happens I check my pulse. If the rate isn't above 80 I know it's the fibromyalgia. I also take mountains of meds!!
LOL they say ("You are what you eat!!") (I'm a great big "PILL")
Well I still have a sense of humor.

oh, I feel your pain... quite literally. I was diagnosed with FMS/MPS in 1997. Don't you love that you have to suffer for at least six months before you are a candidate for a diagnosis?!

I also was rushed to the ER more than once for chest pain and discovered that I merely had the worst case of Myofascial Pain Syndrome there in my ribs and my hips. Lovely. Fortunately, I found a single drug that helped me over my debilitating pain enough that I could start exercising again. My neurologist and rheumatologist both promised that was the "cure." With lots of daily exercise, the pain just eased up. Now, I'm pain free (in the relative sense) and can enjoy a fairly normal life (I also learned what foods flair the chest pain... for me, anything with a high tyramine content: aged foods, dried foods, fermented foods, soy). Once those were out of my diet, I was on the mend! I wish you the best in your own process of discovery with FM.

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling your best! I have a few friends that have the same problem and they really struggle with it. I wish science would hurry and catch up to those who have health problems without solutions.
