Feeling Good About Things

So... I bought the Engine 2 Diet book because I was concerned about Rob's heart health and both of our weights. I really haven't let it out my sight since I got it. I love the information in this book. Every chapter seemed to be an "AHA" moment for me.
Rob has agreed to commit to 28 days of whole foods eating but we're going to wait until after vacation to get started officially. Although, I seemed to have started without meaning to and I'm loving it. I've had no meats and minimal (almost unavoidable) dairy, and little or no processed anything for seven days. I've actually dropped a pound for the first time in a month but more important than that... I feel great. I'm not making it up. I love how I'm eating. I eat ALL day long, I love everything that I put in my mouth and have yet to go over 1400 calories. I never feel horrible or like I'm carrying a bowling ball around in my belly. And as for junk food, its just not tempting right now. Because I know how bad it is for me, I don't even tease myself with "a little bit." I think my skin and hair actually feel better but that's hard to quantify.
We've been out to eat once and it wasn't hard for me to have the salad bar and order a baked potato and broccoli for a meal. Rob looked at me like I was nuts but... when we left the restaurant, I felt full and happy - not overstuffed and guilty.
What is really cool is that I have no feeling of having given anything up. I'm eating all the time, I'm enjoying shopping for fresh foods and trying new recipes. I don't have cravings for bad foods anymore so that's easy. For me, there's no feeling of sacrifice at all.
So anyway, that's how its going for me and I'm feeling good about it.
