My Walk Across America - Day 22

Thursday, February 19, 2009

It's been a busy week! Phew! I've finally gotten my omron pedometer from amazon.com and I love it. It came with software, too, but I haven't installed it yet. I am still learning how to use it. It came in handy while grocery shopping last weekend as I was able to prove to my husband that I walk over a mile just shopping LOL. It was actually 2.3 miles.

Years ago I realized I would get more exercise if I didn't organize my grocery list and I didn't start at one end of the store and go up and down each aisle. Now I start at the top of my list and work my way through it. Makes for lots of walking back and forth across the store. Plus, as my cart gets heavier and heavier I think it probably gives me a little strength exercise too since most of them are resistant to moving at all LOL.

I don't organize my list, but that's because I'm just not an organized person. I always feel silly waking back and forth across the store, but now you've given me a reason to be happy about it. I've never considered how much extra activity I'm getting. Thanks for the new perspective emoticon

Hi my friend, I'vde been wanting an Omron, let me know how much you love it or hate it when you have it down pat. You certainly can get a lot of exercise shopping, especially without a set path. The ticker is moving, keep it going!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Interesting way of grocery shopping - I never thought of it that way! How old are your kids? Are they patient with the long shop, find fun in it, or do they get cranky?

Good luck with your new toy! Lots and lots of steps for you!

Thanks for this post, as I've just begun the pedometer journey. Thanks for sharing. Tell us how it works out after you're used to it, and your opinion of value for the money.
