Blog on winter Blahs

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

The sun is shining, I am eating healthier and getting more exercise. I am taking the "right" supplements and antidepressants. Still, winter is starting to get to me. Shoveling snow is no longer as much fun. Going anyplace is a chore. Aren't we due for a January thaw?
I am impressed by the accomplishments of my teammates, but attempts to emulate them remind me that I am no longer 20.
Baby steps.
One day, hour, minute at a time.
This too shall pass.
Thanks, I feel better now.

Your right. Taking baby steps is the way to go. Make daily, and than weekly goals for yourself. knaught 61 is correct too. Get out and take a short neighborhood walk when ever possible.
kagee2's wife here. My husband Keith walks almost every day, even in cold weather. It is not as cold here in NJ as it is in Madison. It was 14 degrees on friday and we walked one mile.

It is about due for a January thaw! Wouldn't it be great if that 45 degree weather they were having in Anchorage, Alaska would swoop down here (instead of the arctic stuff!!) I share your feelings in many respects. Sometimes I think there should be a special strong antidepressant just for northern winters. Try to get as much daylight and fresh air as possible under the circumstances. We've got to be more than 1/2 way through winter! Take care, Kathleen
